How Cancellations are advised
Cancellation notices are broadcast on "NewsTalkZB" 1080Khz am between
7:10 a.m. and 8:00 a.m on Saturday mornings.
You need to listen carefully for:
+ "All Western Districts Schoolchildrens Cricket Association matches are cancelled", or
+ "Western Districts Schoolchildrens Cricket Association matches at (Name of Ground) are cancelled".
Cancellations are also posted on this page of the Western Districts
Junior Cricket website as soon as a decision has been made - usually by 7:15 a.m.
If you know of someone in your team cannot acces the internet, make
it your job to be their "Cancellation Buddy" and phone them if you know your match has been cancelled.
Sometimes you will notice that when cricket has been cancelled,
it lovely & fine by 9:00 a.m. and for the rest of the day. Unfortunately that is just bad luck. A decision to play or
cancel when the weather is wet or doubtful has to be made early enough to get on the radio on time and before parents &
players are on there way to their match venue.
Sometimes even when it not raining on Saturday morning, rain on
Thursday or Friday will leave some grounds or pitches unplayable.
