The associations has three key responsibilities.
COACHING & DEVELOPMENT
Western Districts Schoolchildren’s Cricket Association
caters for coaching and development of young cricketers both male and female from the ages of five to seventeen years
of age.
To achieve this, each year, a panel of three convenors trials

The convenors are put forward by each of the principal
clubs. Trialists are nominated by their coaches.
SELECTION OF AGE GROUP REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
From these squads players are selected for teams to represent
Western Districts at age group tournaments during the Christmas school holiday break.
ORGANISATION OF SATURDAY MORNING COMPETITION
Our other major activity is "to promote, organise
and foster Saturday morning cricket competition within the area defined by the Auckland Cricket Association."
